The First Step - The New Patient Examination
This visit will be easy and painless. When you leave our office, we want you to feel totally confident
and fully informed. During this visit, we will get acquainted and answer your questions. Getting to know you and your orthodontic concerns is a key element in our relationship with you and/or your child.
The doctor will conduct a thorough orthodontic examination. The orthodontic problems will be highlighted, a preliminary treatment plan will be formulated and treatment time and costs will be discussed.
Please assist us by bringing the following information to this appointment:
- A recent panoramic x-ray (if available)
- A list of medications you are presently taking
- If you have dental insurance, please bring a completed form or a copy of your insurance card. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
- Completed online or printed patient registration forms.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves, artificial joint replacements, heart murmur, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.)
The Second Step- Diagnostic Records & Treatment Planning
Treatment is customized according to your individual needs, and is based upon a thorough evaluation of your case. Orthodontic diagnosis requires x-rays, photographs and models of your teeth.
Diagnostic records are usually made at the New Patient Exam appointment, or can be scheduled at your convenience. Once all of the necessary items are obtained, the doctors will study them and determine a specific treatment plan (or plans) to address your orthodontic condition and concerns.
The Third Step- The Consultation Appointment
During this visit we will go over the treatment plan(s) in detail, and address all of you questions and concerns. Ffinancial arrangements and all preparations for placing the braces are made at this appointment.
The Fourth Step- Placing the Braces
This appointment is usually scheduled 1-2 weeks after your Consultation Appointment. It takes from 15-45 minutes to place your braces. In spite of what you may have heard (or you remember from you own earlier experiences) this is an easy visit. Youll be surprised how fast and comfortable our modern techniques have made the placement of braces.
Successive Visits
Periodic visits are an important part of orthodontic treatment. Usually, we will want to see you every 4-8 weeks to check your progress and make adjustments to your braces. During this time, you will need to keep appointments, follow instructions, as well as practice good oral hygiene and proper nutrition. Also, continue to visit your dentist regularly.
